Larger women always seem to get left behind when it comes to fashion. For some reason, many of the top designers seem to stray away from doing clothes in larger sizes, even though many of those items would wear equally well on big women. Be it skirts, trousers, tops and even jackets, plus size women always have to go the extra mile to try and look fabulous.
That should not be the case though. Women of all sizes have a right to walk into a store or their local market and get some mix and matches that will make heads turn. For plus size women, when you wear your trousers you should try and camouflage the parts you want to hide and accentuate the parts you want to show off. When it comes to denim for the plus size there’s a few do’s and don’ts that we should follow:
• buy dark denim
• avoid anything that doesn't stretch
• don't buy overly decorated denim - all they do is draw attention to specific areas of your body and as a lot of styles tend to splash appliqué and other equally eye-catching details on the ass area, don't be surprised when you draw glances to your booty
• Stay away from two-tone type denims - the kinds that have a faded lighter color down the middle of the leg. They only serve to make your legs look larger than they actually are
• unless you're a tall plus sized woman, do not indulge in cropped jeans or ones with huge cuffs - theses shorten the leg and add width
• other than low-waisters, most styles will look good, providing you buy the correct fit, so be honest with yourself when trying them on
• Make sure the pockets (on the seat area) are small, close together and unfussy. They will slim your booty
• If one of your problem areas is your thighs/hips, buy bootcut jeans. The flare at the ankle will add balance over all.
Below are a few fab trousers and skirts for the office and a swell evening out.
